This election affords Glendon's student body a great opportunity - the chance to have our voices heard in a fair and open voting process and to choose the representatives that will shape our next year together; the kind of participation that has been lacking and a trust that needs to be re-built.
It is with this in mind that I have put forth my candidacy for the vice presidency and have decided to run with the "Clean Slate." I am excited to take on the challenge of tackling the GCSU's financial difficulties, with the aim of re-claiming the council and its expenditures for the students in a transparent, responsible, and participatory process.
Experience
- Successful entrepreneur in the field of web/graphic design and computer software development
- Served in an administratively appointed position on student council at Kitchener Collegiate Institute.
- Recipient of provincially recognized award for excellence in accounting (2000)
- I have spent the past 3 years at Glendon feeling separated from my potential as a leader and active participant in student life because of the poor quality of governance and uninspiring council occupying the GCSU office. This is why I am running. It's time for a Clean Slate.
If Elected, I Will ...
- Fulfill my Constitutional duties and assist in the drafting of a new and improved constitutional document.
- Assure the appropriate funding for clubs and services at Glendon.
- Write a balanced and responsible budget.
- Create a plan to eliminate debt with as little impact on the student body as possible, through fundraising activities and fiscal restraint.
- Choose a business manager through an open and transparent process, tasked with ensuring fiscal responsibility and the councilšs accountability.
- Ensure that there is a full and complete investigation into the financial state of the GCSU, the results of which will be made available to all Glendon students.
- Make the GCSU office a hospitable environment for all Glendon students!
- Create constitutionally assured equal opportunities for involvement in the Glendon community.
